Proven, not just promised
Two real-world examples show what process automation looks like in practice and what value it can bring.
The trusted Excel file stays, the broken media disappears
Starting point
A company works with an Excel file refined over years. The logic it contains needs to stay in place. Even so, data still has to be entered by hand regularly and transferred between different systems.
Solution
The Excel file is copied automatically and filled with the required data through an interface. Calculations continue to run in the familiar Excel file. The results are then read back automatically and used in the rest of the process.
Value added
The existing process stays in place while being sped up. Errors from entering and copying data are reduced. Thanks to the automatic copy, it stays traceable which file was used and which calculation took place.
With four runs a day, around 100 minutes of manual effort per week can be saved. If one error per week is also avoided, that adds around 30 minutes less rework. In this example, that adds up to roughly 2 hours and 10 minutes per week.
This is a conservative example calculation. The actual time saved depends on usage and the previous error rate.

A manual procedure becomes automated work
Starting point
At a Swiss federal authority, a paper-based procedure took up a lot of specialists' time. Every case had to be reviewed and processed individually by hand, for around 7,000 cases a year.
I delivered this project as an employed requirement engineer, before founding Lavanchy Automation.
Solution
The entire workflow was digitized and automated. From the review logic through to approval, the process runs in a structured, traceable way through the system. Specialists now only step in where it's genuinely needed.
Value added
Every case is documented and deadlines are traceably met. Within a year, the number of cases processed could be increased by more than 40% thanks to the automation.
Around 90%
less manual effort per case
Over 7,000
cases per year
Over 40%
more cases processed within a year
Become a case study
Until 16 October 2026, I'm developing free case studies for selected businesses. You get a tailor-made automation solution. I get a reference case for my work.
Secure a case-study spotWhat else could be simplified?
The following examples are food for thought. Which solution makes sense for your business depends on how you work today.
Daily briefing
What appointments are coming up? What's still open? Which messages are important and concern me directly?
Quality assurance
Systems are checked automatically every day. If something doesn't run as expected, a notification is triggered.
Email processing
Emails are categorized automatically. Matching processes are triggered and reply drafts are prepared.
AI as a process step
When information needs to be classified, summarized or prepared, a process can include an AI step on request. Where AI isn't needed, the solution stays deliberately simple.
